FAQ
Scanning
Why didn't the scanner recognise my card?
Use good, even lighting, keep the card flat, and avoid glare from a sleeve or toploader. Fill the guide with the card and hold the phone square to it — the level indicator turns green when you are. If it still misses, use manual search (the search icon): it is always available and never uses your daily scan quota.
Why did the wrong card come up?
Some cards share a name or a collector number across sets. When the app offers several results, pick the exact printing you scanned — check the set symbol and the collector number at the bottom of the card. If it auto-picked wrongly, rescan or fall back to manual search from the result screen.
Does scanning need an internet connection?
Yes. Identification happens on our servers, not on your device, so a scan needs a connection. Your saved collection, its totals and anything already downloaded remain available offline.
Does Cardient upload my card photos?
Yes. When you scan, a small image of the card is uploaded so it can be identified by an AI vision service. It is used to answer that one request and is not kept: nothing on our side stores it. Full detail is in the Privacy Policy §3.
You can import a photo instead of using the camera, on the scan screen and in the centering tool. Cardient never gets access to your photo library to do it — iOS runs the picker and hands the app just the one image you chose. An imported scan is uploaded like any other scan; a photo imported into the centering tool never leaves your device.
How many scans do I get?
The free tier gives you a set number of scans each day, and they reset at local midnight — the app shows how many you have left before you use one. Manual search and browsing are unlimited and never use a scan. Cardient Pro lifts the daily limit.
Grading and centering
Does Cardient grade my card?
No, and it will not pretend to. It measures the centering of the card after correcting for camera perspective, tells you what is guaranteed versus what is possible, and compares the card's raw value against its value at PSA 9 and PSA 10 so you can decide whether the submission fee makes sense. Graders assess surface, edges, corners and print quality too — a centering measurement is one input, not a verdict. Cardient is not affiliated with any grading company.
Why does my measurement differ from the one I did by hand?
Measure with the whole card in frame, held square — the level indicator helps — and use the zoom and loupe to place the guides exactly on the border you can see. Small placement differences at the edge move the percentage more than people expect. Measuring is free and unlimited, so take two passes and compare.
Promo codes
My promo code was refused.
Codes are limited in number and in time, and each one can be used once per install. Check for a stray space and that you have typed it exactly as given — case does not matter. If the code should still be valid, email us with the code and your install ID (Settings → About) and we will look it up.
How do I restore Cardient Pro?
Settings → Restore Purchases in the app, signed in to the same Apple ID you bought it with.
Privacy and data
Do I need an account?
No, and there is no way to create one. That is deliberate. The trade-off is worth knowing: with no account there is nothing to sync, so your collection lives on the device you built it on. Cardient Pro keeps a backup that restores to the same device after a reinstall — it does not move your collection to a second device.
What data does Cardient collect?
No name, no email address, no account — there is nothing to sign up for and nothing for us to know you by. The card photo you scan is used to identify the card and is not kept. Your collection lives on your device. The full breakdown is in the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. If you would also like anything held against your install removed, email help@lamigsoftware.com with your install ID — copy it from Settings → About — and we will take care of it. We need that ID because there is no account to look you up by.
